Joanna’s work reflects the convergence of a number of themes which combine the act of painting with her own distinctive mark making – sometimes primitive, sometimes playful. These paintings aren’t just about surace: the layers are built up, often they are excavated, but always the history of the painting is sensuously laid before the viewer. She works in mixed media and acrylic.
